Answering the Call and Hosting VBS

Children are today’s smiles and tomorrow’s leaders.

Our Children’s Ministry Director Madeline Worley responded to the call of the Lord and said, “Here I am. Send me.” It was this passion that led The Church at Bennington Place to hold its first Vacation Bible School (VBS). Madeline envisioned this as a free event for the children of the community … and with lots of volunteering from the The Church, she was able to make this free event possible.

Big Heart Farms came to The Church for three nights in July 2012. The children wore straw hats and bandannas, sang silly songs with Mr. Farmer, learned about the Fruit of the Spirit in class and then created crafts so they could share their stories with their parents when they went home. The hole building was decorated with farm-like backgrounds, critters, nature scenes and Fruit of the Spirit (in the form of, now get this, fruit). The kids came in and said, “all this is for us?!?” They were stoked to say the least.

Thank you, Madeline!
Madeline Worley, the Children’s Ministry Director, started The Church’s first VBS annual ministry to the community. Here she is the following Sunday with her husband Billy with their gifts of thanks from The Church.

“The decision to hold The Church at Bennington Place’s very first Vacation Bible School was placed upon my heart when praying about the vision for the future of our Children’s Ministry. What a great opportunity this was to invite the families of the community into our church to share God’s love. Vacation Bible School is a great chance for children to get to know God. This is such an important part in playing a role in a child’s spiritual growth, so that one day they will know Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. The Big Heart Farm VBS was an amazing experience for me, my family, and each volunteer! It was truly a blessing from God. I am excited to see what God has planned for next year’s VBS and the future of The Church at Bennington Place’s Children’s Ministry!”
